Mcusta's Friction Folder is inspired by the traditional Japanese Higonokami (肥後守) - a type of friction folder, which has a Chikiri ('thumb lever') that can be used to both open the blade and prevent it from accidentally closing while in use. The hollow ground blade is VG-10 core san mai and the wavy lamination line intentionally mimics the famous Hamon of traditional Katana swords. The silky-smooth-opening slip joint mechanism is complimented with a ball bearing detent to keep the blade closed as well as set in the open position (non-locking). Mcusta’s passionate craftsmanship and innovative designs have resulted in this stylish, practical tool that updates the traditional Japanese Higonokami knife for the 21st century.

Made in Seki, Japan, Mcusta combines modern technology with traditional Japanese craftsmanship to produce hand finished custom quality production knives. This knife measures 5.25" long closed and features a San Mai stainless steel blade with VG-10 core and Red/Black Laminated hardwood handle. Comes with elegant Japanese nishijin pouch. The Japanese Higo style is a one hand opening knife, easily opened with the thumb using the front blade extention.
