2023 New Products on the Way

Mcusta has several new products being added to the lineup in 2023. First among these is the production version of the long-awaited personal folding steak knife. Then we are also introducing a new fixed blade line designed by USA knifemaker Mike Irie. Finally, a fixed tanto is coming soon as well.

The Executive

Called "The Executive," the folding steak knife was originally conceived by Mcusta's president, Tomohiro Hasegawa. This elegantly-designed knife fills a need for a great looking knife for special occasions while being entirely able to perform day-to-day tasks as well.

The Executive was originally released as a limited edition with a VG-10 core san mai blade and stingray inlays in three colors. Subsequently, a limited-production version came to the US with custom Ironwood inlays. A limited blackout version is going to be offered at the 2023 Atlanta Blade Show.

The production version of The Executive has been long in coming but is now reaching the final stages. The blade will be a VG-10 core damascus. In Mcusta fashion it will be offered with three color options for the inlay at the center of the black anodized aluminum handles. These will be blue, red, and gray. This will come with a finely-crafted leather pouch.

Mcusta Mike Irie Sport Series

The Mike Irie Sport Series came about from a meeting at the 2022 Atlanta Blade Show. At that time Mike discussed the possibility of having Mcusta produce three of his popular Sport knives. Mcusta planned to release these at the 2023 Blade Show in Atlanta, but at this time the project is a little behind schedule due to supply issues. Nonetheless, the release won't be too far behind as they should be available for Summer 2023.

The Sport 100, 200, and 300 are compact hunting knives and are among Mike Irie's most popular designs. Based out of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mike Irie has been crafting knives full-time since 1991 and is a member of the Knifemakers Guild and Professional Knifemakers Association. His reputation for crafting excellent knives is well-known.

The Sport Series will be offered by Mcusta with various handle options. As of now, the handle options will be black micarta and Ironwood. There will possibly be brown micarta and stag or bone. The blade will be VG-10 core damascus, and a stainless steel version is also being considered.

The fixed blade tanto is currently being produced in a very limited quantity of about 10 pieces. This is a first for Mcusta, and the project is very exciting. Designed by Masahiro Hasegawa, this tanto will feature a SPG2 core damascus blade with a leather-wrapped traditional katana-style handle. These will be offered at the 2023 Atlanta Blade Show. A limited edition version will likely come out some time this year.

There are a few other custom knives that are being produced exclusively for the 2023 Blade Show in Atlanta, so don't miss it, and please come see us at table 28V!
